If you've smoked as much as we have, you've probably had a moment a lot like this: you're about 6 hits deep into a bowl in your nice, clean glass pipe, you go to hit the bowl again, and suddenly everything left in it  shoots through the bowl with a slight *pop* and you wind up gagging on a scorching hot "Scooby snack." It's quite a memorable experience, to put it gently. Fortunately, you can avoid the dreaded Scooby snack if you have a pipe screen on hand! Whether it's a glass pipe screen or a metal pipe screen, these little guys will keep your bud (and the remaining ash) right where you want it. This means that a pipe screen will both save you from getting assaulted with a flaming piece of bud and ensure you get the most smoke out of your bowl; this means a water pipe screen is also a great idea, even with the filtration of a bubbler. If you've never used one, you're probably wondering how to put a screen in a glass pipe. It's pretty simple, but can certainly be frustrating before you know what you're doing. If it's a glass screen, you can basically just drop it into your bowl, make sure it's laying flat, and you're good to go - just watch for it to fall out when you clean your bowl. To install a metal screen, you may need to smoke a little through the bowl first (a little resin helps make the screen stay in place), but once it has a nice cake built up, just push your metal pipe screen into the bowl so that it holds the shape of the bowl and you're good to go!
