WHY MARIJUANA WAS ILLEGAL PRODUCT FOR MANY DECADES: THE REASONS OF ITS LEGALISING

The issue of marijuana today is extremely itchy. People worldwide are not sure whether it is a good idea to legalize it or not. The fact is that the modern generation lives with the belief that marijuana is something bad, tragic, grief-bringing, and even evil. But, the point is, where do these prejudices come from? There will be no mistake if one says that the prejudices are always biases that have no solid ground but are deeply rooted into the social and cultural consciousness of some group of people, no matter if it is a population of a certain city district, residents of a particular city, state, or country, or even the whole nation itself.

Marijuana has become an object of prejudice thanks to political and social decisions made in the previous century. Not being judgemental, we need to say that the government and propaganda demonized marijuana because they knew nothing about the plant and how it could be used safely for society. Nowadays, marijuana goes through an opposite process. While dry herb and weed pen are gaining popularity, many people are trying to understand the underlying stones of marijuana consumption. They also aim at understanding the historical background of the ban on cannabis and all the outcomes that have followed.

History

The history of cannabis goes back to the lack of Europeans on the lands of America. In fact, cannabis has grown in many areas worldwide, and ancient people used it to relieve pain, relax, and feel better after their day-to-day pursuit of life. However, marijuana was never well studied before the XX century. At the beginning of the XX century, a drug went through research, and scientists have outlined two main components of the drug, THC, and CBD.

Components

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of the hundreds of chemical compounds found in the marijuana plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not induce the high associated with marijuana. However, it has a myriad of therapeutic applications, including as an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective agent. As a result, CBD is finding its way into dozens of non-psychoactive, pharmaceutical-grade products. Examples include products for pain management, anxiety, acne treatment, sleep disorders, and so on. THC is short for tetrahydrocannabinol, or the primary psychoactive component of the cannabis plant. When you think of cannabis, you probably think of the high it can give you. While there's debate about whether THC is more or less harmful than CBD, both can have medical benefits when used properly. The dry herb vaporizer pen is designed for the use of CBD abstract.

Drug Prohibition

Drug prohibition has always been a political choice. The Anti-Pot Tax Act of 1923 outlawed cannabis in the United States. But in the decades that followed, cannabis was easier to get than ever. As cannabis consumption became more widespread, so did the threat of social stigma. High-profile politicians - many of whom opposed the war on drugs - began to change their tune, and within a decade, marijuana was no longer considered a dangerous drug.

The federal government has held that marijuana is an illegal drug, with no medical use, since 1970. And regulators have long ruled that a pot business needs a federal permit to operate regardless of state laws. That means producing it and selling it out of state is illegal. But some states have been trying to change that with their own rules. Twenty-nine states now allow medical marijuana, and eight have approved recreational pot. But it's still illegal at the federal level.

Cannabis Legalisation

A couple of recent years have become a ground for trying to legalize marijuana. Not the last role here goes to the popularity of the best dry herb vape pen worldwide. People want to have the new excellent device, and they use it much if they are allowed to. Therefore, they struggle to make marijuana legal. Simultaneously, we cannot help saying that severe illnesses play one of the greatest parts in legalizing marijuana. Those suffering from arthritis, cancer, epilepsy, and other diseases make the drug legal, at least partially. Having plenty of positive effects mentioned above, cannabis is an active and useful assistant in fighting harsh symptoms of severe illnesses.

While it is possible to get medical marijuana under certain circumstances and doctor's prescriptions in the USA, it might be impossible in many of the world's countries. That's why people are fighting for their right to get proper treatment and reduce their suffering. Protests in support of medical marijuana have been taking place all over the west, east, and middle Europe in recent years.

Conclusions

Biases against marijuana are the result of a lack of knowledge. People who have never read any scientific works on marijuana research cannot make up their minds to legalize marijuana even with strict regulation. They are highly prone to manipulations and prejudices transmitted by TV shows, weed pen opponents, Internet articles, and neighboring rumors. That is why making the right decision requires extending the informational flow, checking the sources of the information, and critical thinking skills.
