Daddy Burt Hemp Co. was founded by Bob Estes, the great-grandson of Joe “Daddy Burt” Burton, one of the largest hemp farmers in the United States during the early 1900s. In addition to being the company’s namesake, Daddy Burt also inspired the mindset and quality the company maintains. 

Daddy Burt Hemp Co.’s offices are based in Lexington, Kentucky, just 20 minutes from where the famous Daddy Burt was born and raised. Like the company, he committed his life to service: he farmed hemp, was the police judge of Nicholasville, and the jailor of Jessamine County. Daddy Burt was recognized and appointed HempFarming Specialist by the governor of Kentucky in the 1930s. 
 
Not only did Daddy Burt practice exemplary hemp farming practices, but he felt obliged to the community and to others to help improve the techniques of hemp farming for others in central Kentucky. 
 
During World War II, Daddy Burt didn’t put an end to his commitment to service. When the government called for increased hemp production, termed Hemp for Victory, to replace the then-cut-off jute used to make rope and cloth. In 1942, he was honored for the vital role he played in his participation in the Hemp for Victory campaign by the US Department of Agriculture War Board.

Though Daddy Burt passed on in 1959, his legacy lives on through Daddy Burt Hemp Co. In honor of this great, noble hemp farmer, this company is committed to doing things right, just as he did. What we tried

We tried Daddy Burt Hemp Co.’s THC-Free 500mg CBD Oil, peppermint flavoured. This oil costs around $60 and can be conveniently ordered from their website. 

 

What we liked

This CBD oil was fairly effective without inducing sleepiness. It tasted delicious and didn’t have an oily texture like many CBD oils do. The lower dosage is great for someone who’s new to CBD, but they also offer 750mg and 1500mg for those that find that a stronger dosage is more effective. It was very effective in treating anxiety and joint pain, while not inducing sleep so you could still go throughout your day as normal.

 

What we weren’t so crazy about

While the consistency of this CBD oil isn’t viscous like many of the others, that also means it’s runnier. Be careful when dosing; it comes out of the dropper very quickly. It’s not a deal-breaker, but we’d feel bad if you lost some of this great CBD oil to the side of the bottle because we didn’t warn you. 
 
We found the taste of this oil delightful, but some might find the strong peppermint flavour a bit overwhelming. Daddy Burt Hemp Co. has many other great flavours to try if you suspect peppermint might overwhelm you. 

As we mentioned earlier, this strength and type of CBD oil wasn’t very sleep-inducing. So, if you typically use CBD to help insomnia, you’ll want to try another of their great products. That being said, it’s a great option for treating the myriad other conditions CBD’s good for, like joint pain and anxiety, during the day.

 

Overall Review

Overall, we give Daddy Burt Hemp Co. a 9/10. Their product was delicious, a nice texture, clean, effective, and their company is extremely transparent. We would’ve liked to have tried a stronger product, but the 500mg dosage is a good starter dose. While the viscosity doesn’t leave an oily residue in your mouth, it also makes it drip a little more easily, so you have to be careful when using the dropper to ensure you don’t spill any of your precious product.

Daddy Burt Hemp Co.’s CBD is delicious, effective, and it comes from a brand you can trust. The taste is excellent and the lower dose makes it easier to get a feel for the CBD if you haven’t tried it yet and aren’t sure on the dosage.

The brand: You can never be too careful about the CBD you purchase; after all, it’s still largely unregulated. You don’t have to worry about that with Daddy Burt Hemp Co.’s. Not only is this a brand you can completely trust, but they also only produce the highest quality CBD products. 

The flavour: The peppermint flavour of the CBD we tried is delicious. It is a bit strong, so if you don’t like peppermint, you’re probably better off choosing a different flavour. If you’re like me and you do like peppermint, this is definitely the CBD for you.

The quality: The hemp used to produce Daddy Burt Hemp Co.’s is of the highest quality and grown in Kentucky. Their CBD products are clean and pure; you can really taste the high quality products they’ve cultivated and used.

The viscosity: Unlike most CBD oils, Daddy Burt’s doesn’t have an oily texture; it’s much closer to the viscosity of water. This also means that it doesn’t leave an oily residue in your mouth after taking it.
