Prepare yourself for a full-body high from the first inhale. It was created by Amsterdam growers Barney’s Farm by bringing OG Kush and Critical Mass together. The end result is an exceptionally strong, pure indica strain, with large, resin-filled nuggs that look simply delicious. The leaves are light green; it definitely looks like an indica strain. The trichomes almost give it a shiny look, with the orange hairs also bursting through the buds. You should definitely get your trusty grinder out for this one to fully appreciate the taste and potency.
Barney’s Farm Critical Kush indica
Critical Kush is also known as Barney’s Critical Kush, Crystal Kush, Super Critical strain, Critical Purple Kush, or Critical OG.
Critical Kush genetics
Barney’s Farm took OG Kush and crossed it with an Afghani-descended strain called Critical Mass. Critical Kush is a cross between:
Critical Kush THC level
The average indica strain has around 13% THC. The average Critical Kush phenotype has around 20% THC. The highest amount that this strain can test at is a whopping 30% THC, which is guaranteed to blow your socks off, or at least send you to bed for an early night.
Critical Kush price
Rejoice and be happy! Barney’s Farm is a Dutch seedbank as well as a coffeeshop. That means that the seeds are available online. This drives the price down, as coffee shops and dispensaries alike can easily get the seeds. This means the supply isn’t limited by who can get the clones and who can’t, like it is with the West Coast dankenstein strains. The average price of this strain is probably about $12 a gram, which is considered low to mid-shelf. If you want to experience this strain and can’t grow it yourself, simply go to Barney’s Farm coffee shop in Amsterdam, and they’ll likely have it.
Critical Kush taste
Critical Kush is more about the THC percentage and indica effects than it is about the taste. That isn’t to say that it’s a bad tasting strain, but it’s simply not as good tasting as some of the strains that are bred deliberately for taste. The taste profile of Critical Kush is:
Critical Kush oil, wax, shatter, edibles etc.
Any strain can be used to make any product. However, certain strains are definitely preferable, and Critical Kush is a great strain for making concentrates and shatters because it has such a high THC percentage. It is a strong indica strain as well, so the effects of the shatter and wax will be an incredibly strong indica effect.
You could also very easily make edibles using this strain. You first have to decarboxylate your weed. This is a vital step in the process of making edibles, as without it your weed will have THCA inside it, which is the raw version of THC. Once you’ve decarbed your weed, simply mix it with an oil or a fat and you’re good to go. You could also smoke your Critical Kush inside a flower vape, and this will make it so the weed is already decarboxylated perfectly. You should grind up the weed before you do this, as this makes it much tastier inside a vape. Critical Kush is one of the best indica weeds for making concentrates.

Critical Kush General Effects
Stress Relief 100%
Pain Relief 75%
Critical Kush is an exceptionally strong indica strain. As such, it’s a great strain to relax to. It will also induce sleep, but it takes a little while for this to happen. Don’t just smoke it and then expect it to instantly induce sleep. It’s better to wait 45 minutes to an hour to sleep after smoking. It’s an incredibly lethargic strain, so make sure you only smoke this strain at night.
Critical Kush flowering time
Critical Kush has a reasonably quick flowering time at about 7-8 weeks. This isn’t the fastest, but it’s not the slowest either. This is a great strain for new growers.
Critical Kush Growing tips
Indoor growers will most likely have to use some form of smell control. That is because this strain has Slunk in its lineage, making it an exceptionally stinky grower. You can easily remove the smell with a carbon air filter - we highly recommend you do so - especially for an indoor grow. This strain needs about 23 degrees Celsius to grow successfully. It also grows best in a semi-humid climate. While growing inside gives you more control, outside grows of Critical Kush are also possible.
Critical Kush seeds
You can buy these seeds from the original breeders, Barney’s Farm. You can also buy the seeds from Royal Queen Seeds. Both of these seed companies are reputable Dutch seedbanks, and therefore you can buy from them with a degree of trust.
Critical Kush yield
The yield of Critical Kush is pretty big, with up to 2 ounces per square foot of the plant. By comparison to other strains this is huge!
