Barney’s Farm Critical Kush Indica

Prepare yourself for a full-body high from the first inhale. It was created by Amsterdam growers Barney’s Farm by bringing OG Kush and Critical OG Strain  together. The end result is an exceptionally strong, pure Indica strain, with large, resin-filled nuggets that look simply delicious. The leaves are light green; it definitely looks like an Indica strain. The trichomes almost give it a shiny look, with the orange hairs also bursting through the buds. You should definitely get your trusty grinder out for this one to fully appreciate the taste and potency.

Critical Kush Strain is also known as Barney’s Critical Kush, Crystal Kush, Super Critical strain, Critical Purple Kush, or Critical OG Strain.

Critical Kush genetics

Barney’s Farm took OG Kush and crossed it with an Afghani-descended strain called Critical Mass. Critical Kush Strain is a cross between:

Critical Kush is more about the THC percentage and indica effects than it is about the taste. That isn’t to say that it’s a bad tasting strain, but it’s simply not as good tasting as some of the strains that are bred deliberately for taste. The taste profile of Critical Kush is:

Any strain can be used to make any product. However, certain strains are definitely preferable, and Critical Kush is a great strain for making concentrates and shatters because it has such a high THC percentage. It is a strong Indica strain as well, so the effects of the shatter and wax will be an incredibly strong indica effect.

You could also very easily make edibles using this strain. You first have to decarboxylate your weed. This is a vital step in the process of making edibles, as without it your weed will have THCA inside it, which is the raw version of THC. Once you’ve decarbed your weed, simply mix it with an oil or fat and you’re good to go. You could also smoke your Critical Kush inside a flower vape, and this will make it so the weed is already decarboxylated perfectly. You should grind up the weed before you do this, as this makes it much tastier inside a vape. Critical Kush is one of the best indica weeds for making concentrates.

Critical Kush is an exceptionally strong Indica strain. As such, it’s a great strain to relax to. It will also induce sleep, but it takes a little while for this to happen. Don’t just smoke it and then expect it to instantly induce sleep. It’s better to wait 45 minutes to an hour to sleep after smoking. It’s an incredibly lethargic strain, so make sure you only smoke this strain at night.

Critical Kush flowering time

Critical Kush has a reasonably quick flowering time at about 7-8 weeks. This isn’t the fastest, but it’s not the slowest either. This is a great strain for new growers.

Critical Kush Growing tips

Indoor growers will most likely have to use some form of smell control. That is because this strain has Slunk in its lineage, making it an exceptionally stinky grower. You can easily remove the smell with a carbon air filter - we highly recommend you do so - especially for an indoor grow. This strain needs about 23 degrees Celsius to grow successfully. It also grows best in a semi-humid climate. While growing inside gives you more control, outside growth of Critical Kush is also possible.
