Wondering what the winner of the top spot of the 2004 Cannabis Cup and the winner of the best Sativa at the 2012 Cannabis Cup has in store for you? Look no further than Amnesia Haze, a landrace cross-train that's a real head destroyer - in the best way possible!

Though the origin of Amnesia Haze is a bit, well, hazy, with some claiming it's from First Medical Seeds and others claiming it's from Soma Seeds, the potency and distinct flavor cannot be confused. There's a reason Amnesia weed strain is considered among the best. Read on to learn more about its characteristics and see if it's something you want to try out for yourself.

Amnesia Haze, A Popular Amsterdam Weed Strain

Amnesia weed strain grows slightly like an indica, but smokers will immediately know the difference when they light up. The buds themselves are chunky and tightly-packed, and they are light green to almost yellow in color. It is also covered in some nice pistils, which stand out nicely against the leaves. As you can see in the picture above, the trichomes of this plant are particularly famous. It looks like it’s covered in a light gloss of snow. It’s very Sativa-dominant, but it does have a slight body high as well. It’s officially classed as a Sativa, but it could really be classed as a very Sativa-dominant hybrid.

Amnesia Haze genetics

Amnesia Haze is a landrace cross strain, which includes the following landraces:

  • Thai
  • Hawaiian
  • Afghani

If you know anything about landraces then you’ll know that this means the strain has some strong Indica genetics. However, Sativa genetics are what truly shine, and that’s why it’s considered to be a Sativa by most people. Like most landrace strains, which are known for retaining most of their flavor, Amnesia Haze tastes great. This strain was originally created by either First Medical Seeds or Soma Seeds. Either way, this strain has become an absolute staple for coffee shops in Amsterdam.

Amnesia Haze THC percentage

Hold onto your horses because Amnesia Haze is not a strain that messes around! The average Sativa strain has around 13.5% THC inside it, whereas the average phenotype of Amnesia Haze has 17%. Some phenotypes have tested up to 25% THC. This is pretty strong and you should be careful if you’re a first-time smoker.

Amnesia Haze price

Thankfully, this strain’s seeds are fairly easy to get online. This drives down the price significantly; you’re looking at around $10 a gram in the coffee shops in Amsterdam. Outside of Amsterdam, you’re looking at a slightly higher price, mainly because the strain isn’t as popular on the West Coast. Wherever you're buying Amnesia Haze will be a great, affordable option for you.

Amnesia Haze taste

  • Earthy
  • Citrus
  • Lemon

Landrace cross strains are popular for their fairly high THC percentage, but also because of their incredibly fruity taste. Amnesia Haze is no different, as it has retained most of the flavor it received from its landrace parents. You should definitely get your flower vape out for this strain, as the taste can only be fully appreciated inside one of these. You should always grind up your weed first so that you get all the goodness in the middle of the buds. This is especially true of a strain like Amnesia Haze.

Amnesia Haze is a particular favorite with concentrate creators because of its high THC percentage and the large number of trichomes covering the buds. It also has thick buds, which is another contributing factor to this strain's potential as a great concentrate source. You can make any strain into a concentrate, but people do generally go towards the ones with large trichome grows.

The same is true for creating edibles. You can make edibles from literally any strain. You just simply need to decarboxylate your weed first. If you don’t decarb your weed, then you’re missing out on a large percentage of the potency. You could also use the bud leftover from vaping, which is known as already vaped bud. This is perfectly decarboxylated cannabis.

Amnesia Haze is an almost pure Sativa. As such, it can be a little bit heavy for newer users. If you ever find yourself in the frankly awful position of being far too high, simply have a cold shower and a cup of hot coffee (preferably not at the same time!!) This normally helps to sober you up, and at the very least gives you back some control of your mind.

However, if you know what you’re doing and you’re looking for pure elation as a way to help with stress, then you’ve found yourself a fantastic strain. Amnesia Haze strain info is the great-tasting aid to stress-busting and offers almost instantaneous relief in this regard.

Amnesia Haze flowering time

Amnesia Haze has a very long growing time, as it takes approximately 10 to 12 weeks to grow. It’s also a very difficult strain to grow in the first place, making it a bad choice for new growers. However, once you’ve got one seed you can take seeds or clippings from future plants to effectively grow an infinite number of plants in the future.

Amnesia Haze Growing tips

This strain is hard to grow, as mentioned before. You should try to find temperatures of around 23 degrees Celsius if you want to grow this plant outdoors. Indoors, you can grow this plant a little more easily, and the plant itself is very bushy (and therefore indica) in nature. You should trim the broad fan leaves at the top of the plant to allow sunlight and air to get to the lower branches. This should significantly increase the yield.

Amnesia Haze seeds

The seeds are available online from many different sellers. However, it’s recommended that you buy them from Soma Seeds, as they were some of the original breeders. They’re also a reputable seedbank based in Amsterdam.

Amnesia Haze yield

The yield of Amnesia Haze is pretty large. This is a reward for growing not just a difficult plant to grow, but also a very slow grower as well. The slow growth allows the trichomes to build up, but it also allows a yield of around 60 grams or 2 ounces per square foot of the plant.

What is the Amnesia Haze weed strain?

Amnesia Haze is a particularly strong strain. It’s what the British newspapers have referred to it as “skunk”. It certainly is strong, and they also have a tendency to class anything that has mind-bending effects as skunk. The strain itself is a sativa or a sativa-dominant hybrid, depending on who you ask. It’s a landrace cross, which was created in the early 2000s, and has since won 2 Cannabis Cup awards:

  • Sativa, or sativa-dominant hybrid
  • Very very potent strain, with mind-bending effects
  • Can cause some new smokers to be paranoid or uncomfortable
  • Can reduce stress if you’re a seasoned stoner who appreciates sativas
  • Originally created in Amsterdam, seeds available online
  • Hard to grow strain, but rewards with high yields and high trichome count
