It’s a hybrid strain known for its 50:50 balanced cerebral and body effects, with the ability to treat pain, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. What’s OG mean? 

OG stands for either the original gangster or ocean grown. It’s hard to say exactly, but most people tend to lean towards it meaning original gangster. Any strain with OG in its name is related to OG Kush, either directly, or through several crossbreeds.

Ghost OG strain: Sativa or Indica?

Ghost OG is a hybrid strain: it's well balanced with 50:50 Indica and Sativa effects. It was 3rd in the Best Overall Hybrid category in the High Times US Cannabis Cup 2013 and was the 2012 Championship Patients Choice Hybrid.  This makes it ideal for treating a number of medical conditions. Believed by some to be the “Mother” of all OG Kush strains, Ghost OG Kush is one of the oldest true OG cuts and can be traced back to the Kush mountains of Afghanistan and Pakistan. First mentioned by a forum member going by the name of “OrgnKid” on Overgrown.com, the cut has since been shared by another member named “Ghost”, hence its name.
 
True Ghost OG is a clone-only strain and its exact genetics remains a mystery, making it both hard to find and expensive. Seeds have been created by crossing the original Ghost Kush strain with other OG Kush strains. Popular cross-breeds include Purple Ghost, Cherry Ghost, Orange Ghost, Ghost glue, Ghost Space strain, and Ghost breath strain.

Ghost OG strain, like other OG Kush strains, is considered to be a potent strain. Some moderate and expert marijuana users use it as a heavy sedative at night and newcomers are recommended to stick to low doses. The average hybrid strain generally contains an average of 12.5% THC, while Ghost OG strains have an average THC content of 15%, with stronger phenotypes known to contain up to 22% THC.

Ghost OG Strain is most well known for its strong citrus smell and taste, although a sweet piney flavor can dominate in some phenotypes. As it is a harsh strain, it is recommended to be smoked inside a flower vaporizer because there is no combustion of plant material, making it less harsh.
 

Ghost OG strain, shatter edibles, etc. 

Any strain of weed can be made into oil, shatter, wax, etc. and Ghost OG’s high concentration of THC makes it a good choice for this. Its buds are often dense and heavily covered with trichomes giving its oil and wax a distinctive citrus and piney aroma. Although better concentrate-making strains do exist, Ghost OG is still chosen by many as a hybrid strain to be made into concentrates. Making Butane Hash Oil is considered dangerous, so be careful!
 
Edibles can also be made from any strain including Ghost OG. Please make sure that you decarboxylate your weed first if you’re making edibles without already vaped bud (with normal marijuana). However, if you’re already using already vaped bud, then simply mix your weed with an oil or fat, and hey, presto! You’ve got yourself a potent edible. The most efficient way to do this is to simply sprinkle some on toast with butter.

Ghost OG Strain is considered to be a potent hybrid strain with a good balance of both indica and sativa effects. Moderate and expert users often choose to smoke it for its ability to aid with depression, pain and stress without wrecking their day. It often has super dense buds and can make you feel very lethargic and sleepy, therefore, beginners are recommended to use small doses and only during later hours of the day. If you do feel lethargic after smoking, it is recommended to take a cold shower or to have a coffee.

A true Ghost OG clone-only strain requires 8 to 10 weeks to flower and can be grown both indoors and outdoors. It is recommended to wait the full 10 weeks before harvesting to ensure the best quality.

The screen of green (SCROG) technique can be used to grow Ghost OG, maximizing light exposure, and the growth potential of the plant. It may also be a good idea to prune lower branches while growing to ensure upper branches yield well.
