King Louie Xiii Weed Strain

king louis strain
We won’t bore you with any history lessons at the Weed Republic. After all, we’re here to talk about weed strains, not French kings. With that being said, King Louie weed strain XIII OG will likely also go down in history as one of the more famous strains out there - from Amsterdam to North America. This strain is an OG Kush relative, meaning that you can expect both strong odor and high potency. It’s an indica-dominant hybrid that has the classic Kush smell, and an overwhelmingly indica high. This strain definitely packs a punch, and it’s a favorite amongst concentrate makers and vaporizer cartridge makers. In fact, 710 Kingpen, who are probably among the most well-known cartridge makers in California, have a 710 Kingpen King Louie XIII strain.

This strain is sometimes called King Louie weed strain OG, King Louis OG, The Canna King, OG Louie the 13th, OG 13, or Louis Tres.

King Louie XIII strain: indica or sativa?

King Louis XIII is an overwhelmingly indica-dominant strain, but it definitely has a cerebral buzz that keeps it balanced. This makes it a great choice for treating a number of different medical conditions, which will be discussed later. You shouldn’t underestimate this King Louie Weed strain, as it will definitely pack a punch. It has a high THC percentage. This, combined with its indica traits, means you could be left feeling lethargic and in some cases a little couch-locked. When you light King Louie XIII up, expect to be sent into a relaxed state thanks to its indica dominance.

King Louie XIII strain genetics

The King Louie XIII strain XIII strain is simply an OG Kush phenotype. What is a phenotype? Phenotypes are simply the different characteristics that plants of the same breed can show. Phenotypes are also found in people and animals. For example, two brothers can have completely different physical characteristics, despite coming from the same two people - science! Hence, the only strain in King Louis XIII strain’s history is:

  • OG Kush

OG Kush is probably one of the most famous strains of all time, and its phenotypes and strains that have been bred from it are incredibly famous as well. The two letters after a strain name, OG, is a sure sign of quality. You know when you see OG, that you’re in for a treat. King Louis OG, as it’s sometimes known, is no different.

King Louie strain THC percentage

The average indica strain is about 12.5% THC. However, King Louis XIII is more like 20% on average, which is significantly higher. The strongest phenotypes of this strain, or those strains that have been left to grow for longer periods of time, can test at up to 28% THC.

King Louie XIII strain price

King Louie XIII strain is a fairly rare strain, so you’re most likely reaching for the top shelf for this one. This means that you, the customer, are going to be reaching deep into your pocket. A gram of King Louis XIII costs around $15, whereas an 8th of King Louis XIII strain Kush is likely to cost about $50-60.

King Louie XIII strain taste

If you have a flower vaporizer, this OG kush phenotype is the perfect reason to bring it out. If you’re unfamiliar with flower vaporizers, then you can look at this list to see the main advantages of using a flower vape:

  • Much healthier as there’s no combustion of plant material
  • Much cheaper as you don’t need as much flower to get you stoned
  • Much tastier as there’s no combustion, but also no paper
  • Subtle, discreet, and portable
  • The smell is more subtle and doesn't linger
  • Can use Already Vaped Bud (AVB) to make edibles

King Louie XIII is an OG Kush phenotype. OG Kush gives its flavor to all of the plants which have come after it. This spicy, kush aroma is favored among many smokers and stoners. The full taste profile of OG Kush is:

  • Earthy
  • Pine
  • Woody
  • Kush
  • Spicy

King Louie XIII strain oil, wax, shatter, edibles, etc.

If you're lucky enough to find King Louie XIII, then it’s not really recommended that you make standard edibles out of it. That is because you’re likely paying a lot of money for the strain, and you need a fair amount to make edibles with. However, if you’re using a flower vaporizer, you can actually recycle the AVB (Already Vaped Bud). Simply mix your AVB, which is the leftover ‘waste’ from vaping, and mix it with a fat or oil. The best way to do this is to simply spread butter on toast and then put a small amount of AVB on it. If you do want to make the edibles yourself, please ensure to decarboxylate and grind it first so as to unlock full effects.

The two things all concentrate makers look for when they’re selecting a strain to create Butane Hash Oil from are taste and potency. As we know already, King Louie XIII has both of these, owing to the fact that it’s an OG Kush phenotype. There are many vape companies, shatter companies and wax and oil producers who use this strain to make their products.

This OG Kush phenotype is indica-dominant, coming in at about a 70:30 leaning. That means you can both rely on its sense of euphoria, but also on its overwhelming sense of relaxation. This makes it a great strain for dealing with stress. It’s definitely one to be enjoyed in the nighttime after a long day at work. However, owing to its potency, a little caution is advised.

We mentioned at the start of this review that King Louie XIII might leave tokers feeling couch-locked. If you find yourself in this state then follow this guide on how to get back up off the couch:

  1. Firstly, remember the couch lock is all in the mind. You can break it if you want.
  2. Secondly, have a cold shower, this will instantly make you feel more energetic
  3. Thirdly, while you’re drying off, have a strong hot coffee
  4. This may stop you feeling stoned all together, so be warned

You can expect to harvest King Louie XIII after only 7-9 weeks. This is a very fast flowering time and makes it a popular choice among growers, at least for those who are lucky enough to get their hands on seeds.

King Louie XIII strain seeds

The seeds for this strain are available from The Cali Connection. This is probably the best seedbank to buy them from. If you go through a different supplier then there's a risk that what is delivered is not actually King Louie XIII.

King Louie XIII strain yield

The yield of this strain is 1-3 ounces per square foot. This is a moderate yield.

What is the King Louie XIII OG strain?

King Louie XIII is a rare, but not completely impossible to find strain from southern California. The seeds are available in limited amounts online, but this strain isn’t the easiest to grow yourself. The taste and potency is very reminiscent of OG Kush.

  • OG Kush phenotype
  • High potency
  • May cause couch lock
  • Both euphoria and sense of relaxation
  • Great strain for stress
  • Hard to grow, hard to find
  • Expensive if you do find it
