4 Most Accurate Home Drug Tests & 11 Sure Fire Ways to Pass Them!
How to use a home drug test kit to ensure you can pass a drugs test!
There are many ways to pass a drugs test. The most obvious one is….curb your drug use. Yeah, we don't like that one either. If you’re a stoner, then certain drugs tests, such as hair tests, can reflect traces of THC in a system for up to about 90 days. This can be frustrating, but we've got you covered in this extensive article about the various drugs tests available and what you can expect from each.
Read on to learn about some of the options you have for at-home drugs tests as well as some of our tips for how to prepare for and pass at At Home Drug Test Walgreens.
Home drug test kits
Home drug test kits can give you an idea of whether or not you will fail the drugs test in the first place. If you fail the home drug testing, then you’re far more likely to fail the actual drugs test, and therefore you will need to prepare more for it. There are many different options for these home tests kits, all with varying levels of accuracy. Whichever one you choose though you'll get the benefit of being prepared for the real deal at work.
1. Dollar Tree THC drug test
The Dollar Tree drug test is popular mainly because it’s so cheap. It is reasonably accurate as well, and, although it is nowhere near to the same standard as a Medical Review Officer (MRO) imposed drugs test, it will give you some idea as to whether or not your urine is coming up positive or negative. Considering how cheap these things are, it’s almost pointless NOT to take one of these tests if you have a drugs test coming up, just to give you some more confidence about what type of test results you should expect.
2. UTest-O-Meter 5 Level THC Marijuana home drug test strips
Testing kit from Ütest, photo: @vaporreviewblog
This product can be found on Amazon. Utest-O-Meter claims the following:
- Discreet and reliable, instant drug testing kit
- Incredibly sensitive, instant results, these strips are sensitive enough to pick-up 15ng/ml of THC. They claim to give test results that are like they came straight from laboratory testing.
- Multi-level analysis, allowing you to fully prepare for a real drugs test, shows you how much THC is in your system. The higher the ng/ml number, the longer it will take to leave your system.
- One-step, easy-to-use, self-testing, clear instructions.
These test strips will never be as accurate as MRO test screens. However, they should give you a good indication as to whether you will fail the real one, and then you can prepare accordingly. You may be wondering how long it takes to pass one of these 20 ng/ml drugs tests. If you’re a non-regular stoner, it should be out of your system within 4 days. If you’re a regular stoner, it may take up to a week. It can take even longer than this, depending on the method of testing. THC can stay in hair follicles for up to 90 days, so if you see your tester get the tweezers out.
With a Utest-o-Meter test strip, you can get an idea of what you're up against when it comes to the real-deal, laboratory confirmation drug tests.
3. Walgreens drugs test accuracy
At home Drug Test Walgreens also has a massive selection of testing kits on their website. They have very good ratings, but accuracy is always the most important thing. There’s simply no way these home drug tests will ever be as accurate as sending samples to a lab for confirmation testing, and, therefore, even if you manage to pass a home drug test, you won’t necessarily pass an MRO drug test.
Walgreens’ highest-rated drug testing product is their drugconfirm instant drug testing kit. Although they’re not as accurate as an MRO test, they normally will show whether a drug (provided the test actually measures for it) is present in a urine sample. The test strip is not wildly inaccurate, they’re just not completely accurate either. Over the counter drugs tests are only good for self-assessment, or even to test your kids (which some parents do).
4. THC Test kit
THC kits can be a good way to test your system before your MRO drugs test, photo: @theganjagurusTHC test kits are kits that are specifically testing whether or not your urine, hair, saliva, or blood, contains THC. This is the chemical in cannabis that makes you feel high, and if it’s present in an MRO drugs test you will fail the test with a "positive result". This is why a lot of people decide to do over the counter drugs tests before their actual drugs test, because if they fail that, they’re likely to fail their actual MRO test. It is always worth checking with a home drug test kit before you get tested at work. There are also ‘quickscreen’ at-home drug tests, usually urine tests, which give you test results incredibly quickly. This can be important, as some people need to know almost immediately if a drugs test is going to pick anything up in their system.
How long is THC in your system?
THC at-home drug test, photo: @drmarge18This question depends on which method of testing you’re subjected to. However, in general, THC can stay in your system for a pretty long time:
- 30-45 days can fail a urine drug test for THC
- 60-75 days can fail for a THC blood test
- up to 90 days can fail for a hair follicle drug test looking for moderate to high THC levels
Please bear in mind that this is the absolute maximum, and should not be taken to mean that if you’ve smoked cannabis in the last 30 days, you will automatically fail a urine test for THC. It is completely dependent on how much you smoke and on your body. The drugs test itself is not testing for marijuana, but for THC metabolites, which every body breaks down differently.
How long is THC in your urine? This depends on whether you smoke a lot, a moderate amount, or hardly anything. If you practice substance abuse then yeah, your body might give that away in the test result. This is never exact, as obviously it depends on the person. However, as a general rule:
- Occasional users (up to three times a week): 3 days
- Moderate users (four times a week): 5 to 7 days
- Chronic users (daily): 10 to 15 days
- Chronic heavy users (multiple times a day): more than 30 days
Please do not use this as an EXACT guide, as it really depends on your weight and on your body.
If my home drugs test is positive, how will I pass my drugs test?
As mentioned at the beginning of the article, there are many ways to pass a drugs test if you are a stoner. The absolute best way, guaranteed, to pass a drugs test, is to cease from smoking weed after you start applying for jobs. This is less than ideal for some people, particularly if you’re using medical marijuana. If you don’t have any other choice, read on for how to pass a drugs test.
External factors affecting an at-home drugs test
We couldn’t agree more! Photo: @mycrazybeautifulworld
There are many different factors which can affect the accuracy of a drugs test. This is one of the main reasons that companies use MROs instead of simply implementing the tests themselves. It is, therefore, difficult to say, for example, the accuracy of a saliva drugs test at home. If done by an MRO, a saliva drugs test accuracy will be very high. At home, it will be much lower, mainly because of the 4 main points which can affect a drugs test:
- Was the collection done during the window of detection?
- Are there any other medicines present in the body that may affect test outcome? Some drug combinations will give a false positive.
- Is the sample free from contaminants? This is very important.
- Is the urine the right temperature (between 96-99 degrees Fahrenheit, or around 35 degrees c)?
If you cannot truly answer yes or no in the correct way for each of these questions, then doing an at-home drugs test is completely pointless. These drugs tests may be fairly accurate if the test itself is performed in the correct way, but if they’re not, then you may as well not do the test.
How do I know if I’ve failed a drugs test?
When you’re looking at the results of your drugs test, you’re hoping for one bold line and one faint line. If you can see a faint line, and you’re asking yourself, "faint line on drugs test? How will I pass my lab test!" Then don’t worry too much, you actually want to see the two lines. One single bold or faint line, however, and you’re probably in trouble. If you do see the dreaded single line, then you will most likely have to use one of the methods at the top of this article, or you may have to use Niacin. The best way to pass a drugs test is to prepare for it. If you’ve already seen that you have failed your at-home drugs test, then at least now you can prepare for the real MRO drugs test.
Niacin flush detox and how it can help you pass a drugs test - How to use Niacin to flush marijuana out of your system
Taking Niacin can help flush your system of chemicals, photo: @artoros
Many people wonder if Niacin actually does flush the system, and, if it does, how? Niacin flush is a method that is argued to clear out traces of chemicals from your body in a shorter amount of time than is normally possible. It does this by increasing the rate in which the body breaks down fats, and should allow people to pass a drug test in a smaller amount of time than usual.
How much Niacin should I take to pass a drugs test?
There is a problem, however, and that is it’s hard to predict whether the pills will work. The method is completely reliant on your metabolism, and will, therefore, work for some people and not for others. If you have a higher % of body fat, then the method is more likely to fail. Another thing to know is that Niacin is incredibly dangerous, particularly for your life. NEVER take more than 300mg of Niacin, as this can pose a serious health risk. If you do manage to dose properly, about one pill every 6 hours for 3 days, you’ll pass the drug test 80% of the time according to reports. Taking Niacin is probably the best way to pass a drugs test, but it can be dangerous, so be careful!
How does a drugs test actually work?
A drugs test is NOT testing for marijuana in your system. They are, in fact, testing for THC-COOH. This is the metabolite of cannabis, which is stored in your body fat. This is why drugs tests can test for cannabis, which was smoked such a long time ago. How much THC-COOH is stored in your body after smoking, and for how long, is dependent on how much you smoke, and also your body fat percentage. You should be most worried about a drugs test if your body fat percentage is high, and you’re an everyday toker. Most cannabinoids are lipophillic (fat soluble) which are compounds that are easily stored in fat. This is the main reason that they have such a long elimination half-life, relative to other recreational drugs. If you’re concerned about failing a drugs test for a dream job, it’s simple really, just give up smoking for a month. This is the main, safe, reliable, method of passing a THC drugs test. Don’t bother thinking of what to use to pass a drugs test, just take a month off. It’s really not that hard, especially as marijuana is not physically addictive.
Hair testing for THC
Hair drug test fast facts, photo: @hairdrugdetoxTHC stays in your hair for the longest, making hair tests the most intimidating out of the 4 testing methods. THC can actually stay in your hair for up to 90 days. This can be a big problem for stoners, as even if they take 30 days off smoking as suggested above, they may still fail a drugs test. You can, of course, buy home hair drug testing kits. This can give you a good idea of whether or not you’ll fail your MRO test. However, if you do fail your home test kit, it’s very difficult to then pass an MRO test. Normally, if you pass a urine test and employers aren’t satisfied, they may put you forward for further testing. A hair drugs test is the best of the best, and it is required in the first place for jobs such as a truck driver or other jobs where you can put someone’s life at risk. Thankfully, the hair drug test is the most expensive test to administer, and is therefore relatively uncommon among employers for other jobs.
How to pass a hair drug test and what to use:
There are only 4 ways to pass a hair drugs test:
Count 'em! Photo: @thetaylormartina
- Wait to detox naturally: you will need to wait at least 110 days after smoking marijuana before taking the test. Thus, if you’re planning on going on the hunt for a new job you should simply quit smoking 4 months ahead of time. Sounds painful, but it’s really not as hard as it sounds.
- Trust your luck. Please don’t actually do this, but if you haven’t done any preparation for a hair drugs test and you have one tomorrow, this is basically your only option.
- Use a hair detox product. There are many different shampoos that you can use to try to remove the drugs from your hair follicle. There are many many of these products, but one good one would be Ultra Clean Shampoo. Whether it actually works is difficult to say, and you’re essentially trusting your future career in a product that could be snake oil.
- Shave ALL of your hair off and then claim that your boyfriend or girlfriend likes you fully shaven. This will look absolutely bizarre, and will raise a few eyebrows (except yours, because you won’t have any) but this is a good way to postpone and maybe even to pass a hair follicle drugs test.
The best ways to pass a drugs test can be easily summed up as follows:
- Take a detoxing product such as Niacin, but be careful!
- Keep up an exercise routine
- Drink a lot of fluids like water, juice or tea
- Take mineral supplements
- Maintain a high-fibre, healthy diet
- Use dilution of the urine
- Buy synthetic urine
- Use someone else's urine
- Go to a sauna
- Use diuretics
- Take aspirin
There are other methods that will help you pass as well; it’s all dependent on which type of drugs test you will be subjected to. If you already know which drugs test you are going to have to take, then you can buy a home drug test kit to do a preliminary test. If you fail this test, you have the benefit of knowing what to expect and you can prepare for it accordingly.
Drugs tests are a fact of life for many folks out there and they probably always will be. As science evolves that gives employers a chance to test in different ways, but it also gives tokers a way to prepare in different ways. So here's to being prepared for whichever test comes your way and to keeping the job that helps you afford your smoking habit!
