Intro:
There is a popular misconception that the OG in the name of certain cannabis strains stands for ‘Original Gangster’ but more than likely it stands for Ocean Grown; OG strains have been spun off from crossbreedings with OG Kush, which originated in Southern California in the late 1990s. ‘True OG’ has become popular slang for someone who is a ‘True Original Gangsta’, someone from the hood. The True OG indica dominant hybrid cannabis strain may or may not be named to cash in on the slang term, but the association probably hasn’t hurt the weed strain’s reputation at all. True OG ganja has become quite popular for its strong mind and body relaxation effects and, since about 2010, it has continually finished as one of the top two best strains in the High Times Medical Cup annual competition. Medical marijuana patients will find True OG an effective remedy for stress and pain management, as well as for depression and insomnia. And recreational tokers, smokers, vapers and dabbers will enjoy True OG hybrid weed strain’s evergreen forest aroma and sweet, citrusy, somewhat piney taste.

Background:
True OG cannabis, sometimes referred to as Kobe OG Strain, is an indica-leaning (70%) phenotype, one of many different genetic variations, of the slightly more sativa-dominant (55%) hybrid OG Kush. Originally cultivated by a California grower, Elemental Seeds, the hybrid weed is an ‘OG’ cannabis strain bred from pure OG Kush stock. Variations in purebred weed strains are created by changes in the growing environment that subtly alter the characteristics of the pot plants; when one such variant has different enough characteristics it is considered a separate strain, a unique phenotype – and that is how True OG was created from OG Kush. Whereas its singular parent has a THC level of 20 to 25%, True OG marijuana has a slightly lower THC range of 15 to 22%. It is a strong enough indica hybrid weed to earn a reputation for couch-locking you if you overindulge on it, but True OG ganja is otherwise a reliable treatment for a range of medical conditions ranging from bipolar disorder to chronic pain issues, plus it works quite well for post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, sometimes headaches or migraines, and you can bet it will help you get some really sound sleep if smoked or vaped before bedtime! Casual users of True OG cannabis strain will likely love its body buzz with lasting chillaxed head high, and the pungent, sweet-smelling aroma with a lemony-sweet taste and earthy undercurrent.
To give you a basis for comparison, Death Star, Strawberry Cheesecake and God’s Gift are similar strains of marijuana based on their indica-heavy effects.

Buying:
If you are thus far intrigued by Kobe OG strain and decide you want to try yourself a few bowlfuls, then you can probably get a 1/8th ounce for $40-50 – so this is a moderately priced, mid-shelf weed at your local provisioning center. True OG cannabis strain is a hybrid weed strain that is available nationwide, so there’s a good likelihood that you’ll find it in your own hood; obviously prices and availability vary from region to region, and it’s always a good idea to consult your dispensary’s online directory or call ahead to make sure they have it in stock. You could possibly find some online as well, but keep in mind that internet sales are usually costlier and there are probably additional shipping charges. True OG wax runs an average of $20 per gram; oil cartridges are about $24 for a half-gram and $40 for a gram. Regarding any True OG edible marijuana or ‘medibles’ treats, labels don’t always specify the type of best weed for beginners used in making or baking the food, usually, they just indicate the level of THC or CBD – but check the pot product labels at your favorite marijuana merchant or ask the budtender if they have anything made with this particular hybrid weed as an ingredient.

Growing:
The True OG hybrid pot plant is considered to be a fairly easy cannabis crop to cultivate, it is highly resistant to common molds and diseases, and thrives in warm and sunlit locations, whether a mild Mediterranean outdoor climate or indoors under properly adjusted lighting and humidity conditions. True OG indoor grows typically yield an average of about 18 ounces per square meter of potent pot flowers at harvest-time after around 8 to 9 weeks of grow time, with the outside harvest much more productive at 16 ounces per plant! True OG nugs or buds are pale green with orange and brown hairs and frosty silver trichomes, the cannabinoid-rich specks on the outside of the flowers. If you pick up a nug and give it a slight squeeze, you’ll notice a rich pine odor mixed with a skunky earthiness.
Should you fancy trying to grow and harvest your own True OG cannabis flower garden, then you can pick up seeds online at sites like Dutch Seed Shop for $60 for a 10 seed pack; or at True North Seed Bank. True OG hybrid pot plants can be had from $16.60 each on up to 1000 seeds for $3236 – obviously the latter is for larger grow operations, but you can scale the cost and number of seeds to your income and needs.
You can also purchase your own True OG cannabis strain clones or starter plants at your nearest offline cannabis nursery or dispensary for around $25-$35 or so per plant, but just as with pregrown and packaged dispensary pot, as we mentioned above, prices likely will vary with location, or from web site to web site, and it’s always best to consult an online menu and even call, email or text message ahead if you’re interested in a particular plant, like True OG, to make sure that they actually have them in stock before you drive over.

Summary:
If you have been plagued with sleepless nights, or maybe you have been battling some chronic pain issues, or if you just want to enjoy a nice couch-lock with a good book or some Netflix binge-watching, then smoking a pipeful or two of True OG weed just might do the trick! The True OG hybrid cannabis strain proves that, uh, inbreeding isn’t always bad… for plants, anyway, because its lineage comes straight down from two OG Kush parents, so it is a variant or phenotype of that particular cannabis culture favorite. True OG cannabis at 70% indica – 30% sativa is far more indica-leaning than its parental pot plant, 45% indica - 55% sativa OG Kush. True OG cannabis constantly places near the top of the High Times Medical Cup contest, year after year. True OG hybrid marijuana can be found nationwide at your nearby real-world dispensary or pretty much anywhere you can buy pot online. The seeds are readily available from seed repositories online or you can buy small plants locally from nurseries or provisioning centers, and it is a fairly easy cannabis crop to cultivate, should you want to try your hand at growing your own TRUE OG hybrid weed. So, go ahead and pile up the cushions on the couch, then vape or smoke a little to relax, feeling the stress - and the aches and pains - dial down as your peaceful happiness ramps up!
