Stardawg was likely named after the beautiful crystal trichomes that cover the plant. A hybrid between Chemdawg 4 and Tres Dawg, this combination will leave you with an uplifting experience. You'll also get a sense of euphoria alongside a sour note of diesel taste. The name Stardawg is derived from its parents, Chem/tresdawg.

Stardawg, AKA dawgstar strain
Hailing from California, you may also find this sativa-dominant strain by the name of dawgstar. It is thought to have come out of the Bay Area, and this association gives this strain an air of sophistication and potent effects.
Smell Stardawg's buds and you will be greeted with the diesel-like aroma that is associated with its parent strains. This strain smells particularly pungent, but is definitely worth holding your nose for to get the amazing euphoric effects. The smell and the high may be too much for first timers, so be careful with your first dose.
- Tres dawg
- Chemdawg 4
Sometimes referred to as Tres Stardawg, both of its parents are indica dominant. However, Chemdawg 4 is the only Chemdawg phenotype to be sativa-dominant, and Stardawg breaks through to the next galaxy when it comes to its overwhelming sativa-dominance.
Stardawg THC percentage
Stardawg can have a whopping 22% THC. This is massive for newcomers, but as long as you dose correctly you should be fine. Some phenotypes will be weaker than this 22%, but the average sativa is 14%. The lowest THC value of Stardog is around 16%. This strain could be a great choice for those who have treatment resistant illnesses, or who simply want to experience cerebral euphoria and body relaxation simultaneously.
Stardawg is about £30 for an eighth. This is entirely dependent on where you’re living, but this is about right for mid-shelf flower. The dispensaries in California and the Coffeeshops in Amsterdam all have massively varying prices, but you'll probably find the best price for this strain in the US.
Stardawg contains two of the most sought-after flavours in the cannabis community, citrus and diesel. Its taste is another reason why Stardawg is such a good choice for edibles and oils as well.
To get the full experience from this strain, you should use a flower vape. These have many advantages, including being able to reuse your weed to easily create edibles.
Stardawg oil, wax, shatter, edibles etc.
You can create edibles very easily using Already Vaped Bud. You can take your bud that you’ve vaped from your flower vape and blend or hand mix into an oil or fat. Cook, or use as is, and you’ve got yourself an edible high.
As for oils, wax, shatter, and concentrates, it’s much more difficult to make with Stardawg. It does makes a good concentrate flavour though because of its diesel and citrus tastes. The video below is a review of a Loudpack extracts Stardawg strain.
Purple Dogbud strain & Gorilla Dawg
Both of these strains are also very famous Chemdawg crosses. Gorilla Dawg is Chemdawg 3 X Gorilla Glue, creating a beautifully balanced, orange-haired covered bud. Purple Dogbud is instead crossed with Purple Urkle, much for the same reasons this strain was created. The taste of Purple Dogbud is truly amazing, as the grape from Purple Urkle accentuates the lemon and diesel of Chemdawg.

Stardawg’s effects are important, because it’s a well-balanced hybrid, which has a high potency. These kinds of strains, particularly sativa-dominant ones such as Stardawg, are perfect for curbing depression. The ability to soothe the mind and relax the body, as well as making you feel happy and focus, can be a great remedy to feeling crappy. Stress and fatigue will melt away provided you can fight past the occasional feelings of couch lock, which are brought on by Stardawg’s two indica-dominant parents.
Stardawg Flowering Time
Stardawg will flower within 8 weeks, which is a reasonably quick flower time.
Stardawg Growing tips
As it’s a Californian strain, it could be hard to grow elsewhere. You would need good sunshine in order to grow this strain outdoors. However you can grow this strain pretty easily indoors. Ensure good cuttings, trimmings, and humidity controls.
As per usual with the Californian strains it’s a real gamble. The only official way to get this strain for sure would be to get a clipping. The seeds available online could be real, but they could also be pale imitations of the glorious original.
Stardawg has a high yield as long as you follow some simple steps such as clipping and trimming. Follow the tips in the video above if you want to learn how to clip and trim for bigger buds, and higher yields.
