Lemon Sour Diesel Strain

Intro:

You can safely assume from the name Lemon Diesel that this pot strain has a citrusy lemon and rather strong diesel smell and taste when you light up; that much is a given. But what you may not know is that Lemon Diesel strain is a 70% indica-dominant hybrid created by Green Lantern Seeds with an impressively potent THC level of between 19-22%. Or maybe you did know that but did you also know that Lemon Diesel gives you, the cannabis consumer, creative, energizing, and euphoric effects that sustain your brain while relaxing your body? All of that is true, of course, but what’s even cooler is that Lemon Diesel weed is not only a great recreational toke, but medical marijuana users will experience less stress with fewer valleys of depression, a significant reduction of pain and muscle fatigue, and improved appetite with every lemony inhalation. And maybe you already know everything we’ve told you thus far, but you just obsessive-compulsively read cannabis strain reviews – in which case, read on because we have much, much more in store for you!

Background:

In the brightest day, in the blackest night, Green Lantern Seeds goes about its mission of growing quality herbs and harvesting the seeds therefrom, all to bring you some fine buds to burn – like Lemon Diesel. The Lemon Diesel weed parentage is somewhat disputed with most knowledgeable sources going with a lineage of crossing Lost Coast OG – a 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid with 18 to 22% THC, and California Sour – a 50/50 indica/sativa even hybrid strain with a broad THC range of 13-20%.

There’s also a version of Lemon Diesel that is sired and sold as a crossbreed between West Coast Diesel – a 90/10 sativa-dominant hybrid with a range of 22-26% THC and 65% sativa-heavy Lemon Skunk (also known by some as Lemon Skunk Diesel), which has a THC of up to 22%. There’s even a Lemon Diesel that is bred from Pakistani weed strain with Lemon Thai, Chemdawg #4, and California Sour – and they thought Freddy Krueger had complicated parentage.

What do you get when you genetically blend the citrus phenotype OG Kush with Sour Diesel? How about Super Lemon Diesel – not made from Lemon Diesel or even having the same lineage, more of a kind of 2nd cousin. Super Lemon Diesel has a THC heft of 19-22% and is Sativa-dominant with the same citrusy and oily taste and smell as Lemon Diesel.

Not only do bewilderingly similar names to Lemon Diesel include Lemon Skunk Diesel, but there’s also Lemon Diesel Kush, or just Lemon Kush, with 26% THC. Basically, there are all kinds of other Diesel weed strains (like Sour Diesel, Biodiesel, just plain Diesel, New York Diesel) and kinds of Lemon weed strains (there’s Hard Lemon, Lemon Cake, Lemon G, Lemon OG, Lemon Haze, Space Lemon and a gazillion others); unscrupulous dealers might purposely conflate the names of the various Lemons and Diesel to sell you something, and sometimes users mix them up because they are all so similar in name, taste, smell and even sometimes effects, depending upon their indica/sativa ratio.

To really ramp up the Lemon and Diesel cannabis confusion, there is Lemon Sour Diesel strain, or Sour Lemon Diesel – sometimes even Sour Diesel Lemon Kush. If you’re wondering about LSD vs Lemon Sour Diesel weed strains, the answer isn’t an easy one: some call LSD cannabis strain by the name Lemon Sour Diesel because of negative associations with the narcotic lysergic acid diethylamide (or LSD) and yet there is also a legitimately separate marijuana strain called Lemon Sour Diesel.

The real Lemon Sour Diesel is an 80% sativa-dominant hybrid; contrastingly, LSD weed strain is a 55% indica-leaning hybrid weed strain. Lemon Sour Diesel has a THC level of 12-20%, whereas LSD weed has a 24% THC power load. Lemon Sour Diesel weed has been bred from California Sour and Lost Coast OG, just like Lemon Diesel and sometimes the two different strains are mistaken for each other – even though Lemon Diesel is an indica-leaning hybrid and Lemon Sour Diesel is more sativa-heavy – they could be considered phenotypes (a same plant with significantly different characteristics due to their growing environment); and LSD is an offspring of 65% indica Skunk #1 hybrid weed and Mazar I Sharif - a genetic variation of Afghani landrace pure indica.

For the purpose of simplification, we shall limit this blog to Lemon Diesel with some information about Lemon Sour Diesel, which is likely a phenotype. Just be aware when you purchase Lemon Diesel or Lemon Sour Diesel that while they are one and the same plant, they are also completely different phenotypes of the strain, with vastly different effects – if you’re buying commercially, ask your budtender to show you the lab tests for the strain you are buying to confirm its parentage, THC levels, and indica versus sativa ratios; if you’re buying from a private dealer, you’ve potentially screwed anyway (hopefully you didn’t buy 50% oregano). If you have the Lemon Diesel lineage or Lemon Sour Diesel genetics from your provisioning center you can use the knowledge you retained from this blog – or even bookmark this blog and come back to compare, so you know what you are getting for your money.

Similar indica-dominant strains like Lemon Diesel include Cherry Pie, Sunset Sherbet, Death Star, and Animal Cookies.

Buying:

If you have a zest for some Lemon Diesel, then you can go out and buy yourself an 8th of Lemon Diesel strain leaf to blaze and try at your favorite storefront dispensary, which would charge you an average of $25 for 1/8th oz-in Salem, Oregon; Los Angeles, California sells Lemon Diesel for $50 an eighth; and in Seattle, Washington, you can get Lemon Diesel for $30 for a 1/8th oz. Seattle also sells Lemon Diesel live resin for $30 per gram; Eugene, Oregon has 1 gram Lemon Diesel distillate carts for $32. All prices are, naturally, subject to change, depending on whether you have a medical or recreational state card, what the quality of the Lemon Diesel grow or crop is, availability, the time of year and geographic location. Some dispensaries are required to charge you a local or state tax, usually 2-6%, on weed purchases. Pre-rolled joints, pretty much anywhere weed is sold, can be found for around $5 to $15 and on up each, depending upon their size, which can run half-a-gram to two grams or more. Insofar as edible marijuana or ‘medibles’ are concerned, labels on provisioning center packaging usually don’t specify the type of weed strain used in infusing the food, usually, they just indicate the level of THC or CBD – but there are exceptions. You may want to ask your budtender.

Growing:

The predominantly indica Lemon Diesel’s flowering time is 56-63 days if grown outdoors, whereas budding occurs in 65-70 days when grown inside. The dense bud structure of Lemon Diesel means that it is well-adapted for the ‘sea of green’ growing technique in which plants are sown or transplanted in tight quarters, so that as they grow a canopy of buds forms, and natural or artificial solar light gives the canopy all the photon energy it needs to grow efficiently. Growing Lemon Diesel strain using this technique is perfect for growers with either smaller garden spaces or bigger growers with multiple growing tables. The productivity of Lemon Diesel plants produces 2.6 oz per square foot in a moderate, outdoor climate and between 1 and 1 ¼ oz per square foot indoors. The overall height of the Lemon Diesel plant, indoors or outside, is around 40 inches, or just over a yard/meter.

You can squeeze yourself some Lemon Diesel seeds online from sites like Seed Supreme, which has a 3-pack of Lemon Diesel seeds for $22.29 USD, 6 seeds for $41.61 USD, or 12 seeds for $74.30; you can also get them at Emerald Triangle Seeds for $31.32 for a 3-pack of feminized seeds (those are the ones that actually produce buds), $48.40 for a 5-pack of seeds, or $93.95 for 10 seeds.

For comparison and contrast, we’re gonna also take a look at the growing profile of Lemon Sour Diesel. How fast does Lemon Sour Diesel finish? Lemon Sour Diesel flowering time is 60-65 days outdoors and over 70 days indoors. And the Lemon Sour Diesel yield is 450 grams (15 ounces) per square meter/yard indoors with an outdoor production of 760 grams (26 ounces) per plant. Lemon Sour Diesel seeds are harder to come by than those of Lemon Diesel, although once available from noted grower Med Man Seeds (but not as feminized plants, so perhaps just for crossbreeding), there is no longer any seed source that we could find, online. Offline you might be able to contact any source selling Lemon Diesel clones or seeds and see if they ever have any of the sativa phenotype, Lemon Sour Diesel, available.

Here is a Lemon Sour Diesel grow vid – though this isn’t a Lemon Sour Diesel strain review, it’s the same plant as Lemon Diesel, just a different phenotype, so much of the cannabis cultivating info is similar:

Summary:

So, has all of this Lemon Diesel information puckered your brain? Lemon Diesel strain is a 70% indica-dominant hybrid, created by Green Lantern Seeds, known for its earthy citrus taste and dank, diesel oil smell. There’s a bit of confusion with its rarer Lemon Sour Diesel phenotype, a sativa-dominant hybrid, which is itself confused with LSD cannabis strain – but all three are uniquely their own strain in terms of effects and indica-sativa balance. All three strains – Lemon Diesel, Lemon Sour Diesel, and LSD do have high THC levels in common, in addition to having similar names – or at least similar initials. Lemon Diesel has a THC level of 19-22%, Lemon Sour Diesel has 12-20% THC and LSD is the highest (no pot pun intended… necessarily) with 24%. It is easy to mix up similar-named marijuana strains, so know the facts (or be able to access them from bookmarked blogs and articles like this one) when you go into a dispensary and ask to see the independent lab results from testing the strain, results which should give you Lemon Diesel as well as Lemon Sour Diesel genetics and other identifying characteristics like THC levels and indica/sativa percentages.

It’s also a bit disorienting (also potentially punny, potheads) that some versions of Lemon Diesel have different parental lineages: 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid, Lost Coast OG, coupled with 50/50 indica/sativa California Sour for some weed bottles and bags sold as Lemon Diesel; there is a form of Lemon Diesel listing sativa-dominant West Coast Diesel and sativa-heavy Lemon Skunk as parental plants, while yet another variation has Pakistani weed strain, Lemon Thai, Chemdawg #4 and California Sour as having been bred together to create Lemon Diesel. Because marijuana legalization and regulation is still a very new thing, it can be hard to pin down just what exactly constitutes a particular strain such as Lemon Diesel other than a dank, oily odor and lemony taste when toked.

You might wonder ‘How to roll very sticky Lemon Sour Diesel?’ – and we might wonder if you’ve already smoked a substantial amount of it before you asked that question. Seriously though, if you’re wondering ‘How to Roll a Joint?’, well, we have a blog for that! Lemon Diesel, whatever form of it you end up smoking, does have a nice taste and a very heady amount of THC – you just want to know for sure whether it’s the indica-leaning Lemon Diesel or the sativa-heavy Lemon Sour Diesel before you spark up.

If you’re one of those people who can actually grow plants without having them die on you, then you might opt to grow a crop from Lemon Diesel seeds, which are fairly easy to come by. Much harder to find are the phenotype Lemon Sour Diesel seeds – though if you can find them, we did include some information on Lemon Sour Diesel flowering time, and Lemon Sour Diesel yield so that you can refer back to this blog once you have procured that particular pot plant or seeds from it. How fast does Lemon Sour Diesel finish? 60-65 days outdoors versus 70 days indoors, and grown closely together to form a light-absorbing canopy is a good way to maximize your yield for either Lemon Diesel strain or Lemon Sour Diesel, the latter also known as Sour Diesel Lemon Kush because high people shouldn’t be allowed to name pot strains, quite obviously.

So, what strain is Lemon Sour Diesel? It’s the same plant as Lemon Diesel, but is a more sativa-leaning version of it – thus it has different effects. The chaotic use of naming some weed strains just really mixes some of us up because there are umpteen different combinations of Lemon, Diesel, Sour, and even Kush and some folks just switch the order of the words around – thus there’s Lemon Sour Diesel, Sour Lemon Diesel, Sour Diesel Lemon Kush, and so on. And, squickiness over the name of the LSD weed strain – not wanting to confuse that with the hallucinogenic lysergic acid diethylamide – therefore some pot dealers call LSD weed strain Lemon Sour Diesel; just keep in mind that when it comes to LSD vs Lemon Sour Diesel, they are really two different weed strains.

Hopefully we haven’t given you a headache trying to differentiate the different variations on Lemon Diesel and Lemon Sour Diesel – unfortunately, the Lemon Diesel and Lemon Sour Diesel genetics are a bit hazy, compared to some other cannabis strains and their family trees. But, if all of this contradictory info does make your temples pulse with painful frustration, do you know what’s good for that? Lemon Diesel strain – if you have some, take a puff or several to relax and get happy!
